Come join us for Opening Day of the 2024 Southside Spring Baseball Season this Saturday, March 9, starting at 9:00 at Avondale Park. We will begin our season with a full day of festivities, starting with a tee ball game at 9:00 and a special coaching clinic open to the public at 9:30, led by former UAB baseball player Nick Crawford of A4One. Come attend the clinic and learn what you can do to teach your player baseball skills at home!
Baseball games start at 10:45 and will run until 4:00. We will also have bounce houses open for children at the park starting at 10:00, and our concession stand will be open during all ball games.
Presiding over our Opening Day festivities will be former MLB player (and Southside Sponsor) Chris Hammond. Chris will be at the ballpark to share his message of inspiration and encouragement with the Southside players and will be available for individual meet and greets afterwards. Birmingham Councilor Valerie Abbott will be our special guest of honor for the ceremonial first pitch for the 1:15 game on Field 1.
